Our River Trips

The Indian River

The Indian River trip starts at the Beach at Burt Lake, enters the Indian River and ends on the Spreads at South end of Mullett Lake Trip: 2  & 3  hours: Beautiful quiet water paddle 2 hours trip depending on the paddler and how long  you stop to enjoy of the scenery or eat your lunch among the reeds along the way.  Starts from The Tuscarora Township Park at Devoe Beach  on Burt Lake and wind along the Inland Waterway of Northern Michigan, through the village, passed Marina Park and out to the Indian River Spreads Area at the mouth of the Indian River, before it joins Mullett Lake at its Southern end. This trip ends at a private estate off N Grandview Beach Road.  Enjoy paddling around the beautiful island and watching for fish, loons, otters and other wildlife among the reed beds of the Spreads near the mouth of the river where it meets Mullett Lake. Your trip ends at a dock on a private estate along the Spreads area. Our Courtesy van is available to pick you up and the end of your trip and return you to your car. $35  for 2 hours $40 for 3 Hours. Canoes are $25 per person or $50 per canoe. On a Saturday this trip is more enjoyable in the Morning or late afternoon unless you do not mind the boat traffic from noon to 5 when the power boats and pontoon boats are cruising the Indian River. Week days other than the 2 weeks around the 4th of July are generally fine. In other words this is a quiet water trip but not always quiet when boat traffic is heavy.

The Sturgeon River

The Sturgeon River is the fastest moving river in Lower Michigan: 2 Hours, 3 hours or 5 hours. A kayaking adventure on the Sturgeon Rivers offers many opportunities for thrills and chills since it is a spring fed river with temperatures running between 42 and 55 degrees. Come tame the dragon. This is a technical river with many turns and natural log jams along the way, low branches and bridges to paddle under. There are a couple of small changes in water levels, not quite a waterfall but still exciting. This trip is fun paddling by confident paddlers and can be enjoyed by new paddlers with a sense of adventure and some instruction.  The type of kayaks we use for this trip really enhance the experience. We offer several different types of kayaks for rent for the kayaking river trips: A. The Remix XP’s are a white water hybrid kayak for the skilled kayaker with previous paddling experience. B. The Marvel Sit-in Kayak which is a bit wider and balances nicely on the water. C. The Coupe Sit-on-top Kayak. D.  The Deuce Coupe Tandem Sit On Top Kayak. E. Paluski Fastwater Canoes. The Sturgeon trips are $40 or $45 in a kayak, $50 in a canoe (accommodates 2).
