Yoga on Stand on Top Paddleboards with Arts and Adventure Paddlesports and Dennise Vidosh – Teacher. Denise was trained under Johnny Kest. She is known for her compassionate yet disciplined teaching.
Paddle Boards are one of the fastest growing water sports for 2012, along with kayaking. Stand Up Paddling is a great core workout and we combine about 20 minutes of paddling as a warm up for the SUP Yoga class. Paddleboarding burns about twice as many calories as bicycling. And Yoga is good for your soul! Just being on the water is refreshing in itself. What a great combination.
Classes have been held on Burt Lake and are now being offered at Bay Harbor in Petoskey. First, a yoga warm up on the lawn at DeVoe Beach Park. Next Enjoy a 10 to 15 minute paddle on beautiful Burt Lake to get you use to balancing on the stand up paddleboards to get ready for your SUP Yoga class. Then 30 to 40 minutes of relaxing and core work out Yoga on the paddle boards followed by a brief swim as desired.
*** Windy days we have the option of moving the class to Silver Lake in Wolverine. This is a beautiful but cold lake, just so you know. It is a deep lake however we plan on sticking close to shore. http://www.fishweb.com/maps/cheboygan/silver_lk/index.html
We Use Pay Hana Malibu Soft Tops (10′-8″) Dolsey Surf Company 10′ Tuna’s, and the Pau Hana 10′ Oahu**
Students meet at BrassWind Landing 8:15am. We will be leaving for the beach by 8:30am. If pre-registered and paid in advance then you can meet at the Lake and we will bring your rental board, paddle and PFD (life vest).
**Walk-ups may be available on the day of the class depending on paddle board availability and reserved class size – take your chances and go kayaking if the Paddle board class is full or please call to check.

Basic How To Start Paddleboarding Video!!! A Must watch for those who have not used a paddleboard before.
We will be paddling for about 15-20 minutes at the beginning of each sessions so this will help you get accustomed to the boards before we start the Yoga.
