We also have an Art Gallery and Gift shop that features fine art, unique gifts and web design services. Artist and Co-owner, Sheree Lincoln uses the Art Gallery as her art studio so you will be able to see what paintings she is working on.
Sheree and Richard Lincoln of Fremont, Michigan purchased the former Image Carvers Sign Shoppe from Jack Garrard and have been working on the renovating the building and bringing it back to life.
About Richard Lincoln
Richard is a Wood Boat Builder who primarily builds custom Chesapeake Bay Light Craft (CLC) designed boats. Richard, or Lincoln as he known, apprenticed with well know Wood Boat Builder Tim Fox of C Fox Wood Boats, in Kent City Michigan for a number of years, before branching out on his own to open BrassWind BoatWorks as part of the BrassWind Landing in Indian River. Lincoln worked most of his life as a Food Scientist. He has a degree in Biology from Grand Valley University. He has been an avid sailor for many years and took up Kayaking more seriously after his retirement from Yoplait General Mills in Reed City, Michigan in 2006. Prior to that he worked at Gerber Products in Fremont, Michigan for 16 years in product and flavor development as well as assisted in some corporate training and educational presentations. He later substitute taught biology in the local West Michigan schools.
Lincoln has taught the Fermentation and Chemistry of Wine Making at the Petoskey Community College. Starting in 2014 he will be offering private and small group wood boat making workshops where you can build your own kayak. Favorite wood boats to build from CLC plans are the Millcreek 13 and the Wood Duck. Currently Lincoln is the distributor for Michigan for SludgeHammer, an innovative septic system remediation solution. He does site evaluations, sets up dealership and does consulting work on an environmentally way of saving septic systems.
About Sheree Lincoln
Sheree Lincoln is an artist who paints in fluid acrylic and runs her own Web & Graphic Design Company building Websites for Small Businesses. Sheree paints primarily animals, horses, dogs and other pets in a contemporary and colorful style using quick brush strokes. Sheree has participated in ArtPrize twice. She has been involved in the Visual Arts since she attended New York School of Interior Design in New York City after High School. She worked a Commodities New Accounts Manager on Wall Street in the early 1980’s before returning to her Native Michigan where she worked as an Interior Decorator, and then in Insurance and Real Estate. In 2003 she fullfilled hr childhood dream of becoming certified as a Firefighter. She was a member of the White Cloud, Michigan Fire Rescue department for 4 years before retiring due to a back surgery. Also during that time she decided it was time to get back to her artistic roots and went back to School at Baker College for Web Design opening her own Web Design company in 2005.
The Path to Indian River
Sheree’s first cousin, Attorney Larry Hanson and his wife Betsy, live in Indian River for over 30 years. Sheree had been visiting here for a number of years. Both She and husband, Richard, decided the building on Mack Street could be something special. The continue to work on the drywall, tri and painting in the wood shop and apartment. Once the wood boat workshops start the 2nd bedroom in their apartment will be available for the guest boat builders as a Bed and Breakfast.
